In game 5 against BFX, Peyz once again stood up as the hero, dragging T1 past a mid-tier opponent. But that victory feels more like a sedative than a cure for the disease called T1. When an ADC has to constantly carry in non-ideal situations, the problem is not the player's talent, it is the system putting the wrong weight on one side.

The current meta revolves around the ADC as the primary damage source in the late game. T1 has proactively adapted by making Peyz the center of their operation: the top laner picks low-resource champions, and all resources funnel toward the bottom lane. On paper, this is a rational approach. But the problem is when Peyz cannot create a gap in laning, or when the opponent fields a stronger laning ADC like Gumayusi, Ruler, or Smash, this strategy collapses entirely. T1 lacks a reliable Plan B. I have followed T1 since the start of the season, and what I see is a team trapped between two identities: the old T1 built around Faker with multiple win conditions, and the new T1 built around Peyz with only one.

Look at the data from LCK and international tournaments. When Peyz gets funneled resources and has a healthy laning phase, T1 almost always wins. However, when Peyz is contained early, the team can barely turn the game around against top-tier opponents like HLE or Gen.G. They rarely give T1 a chance to come back. The game 5 victory over BFX, where Peyz recorded a pentakill, is actually a warning sign: a mid-tier team pushed T1 to a deciding game. Without Peyz's individual performance in teamfights, T1 would have lost. This shows that resource funneling cannot compensate for structural errors in macro play.

When all resources point to one carry, that player naturally gets more cleanup opportunities, more positioning priority, and more chances to finish teamfights. Comparing pentakill counts between an ADC and a mid laner like Faker is an apples-to-oranges comparison. ADCs have sustained damage and superior cleanup potential in late-game teamfights, while mid laners are often focused first. The core problem for T1 is not Peyz, it is the one-dimensional nature of their playstyle. They can barely change this style because without funneling Peyz, the team's damage output collapses. Faker has had good games on Yone, but that is not the primary strategy. Doran, the top laner, keeps making positioning mistakes that erase the advantages Peyz creates. When a player operates on the weakside – receiving little gold and attention – every mistake is amplified. As a result, T1 falls into a loop: the more they funnel into Peyz, the less flexible the team becomes; the less flexible they are, the easier they are for opponents to read.

The counter-intuitive truth is not that Peyz shines, but that his shining hides a structural disease. Fans see a young ADC with insane finishing skills and a bright future. But the numbers show T1 is becoming a one-way team: CS, gold share, vision – all concentrated in one direction. When facing HLE or Gen.G, they don't need to ban many champions; they just need to neutralize Peyz in the first 25 minutes, and T1 locks itself out of its own game. Six pentakills are not evidence of strength; they are a signal of overdependence. Some matches cannot be seen with the naked eye; they must be told by the numbers.
